How DREADful, Centrifuge Weapons



Leader Propulsion Systems has prototyped a "centrifuge gun" that spins up ball bearings and releases them at speeds of 300 meters per second, equivalent to a handgun. Inventor Charles St. George says that a large US defense contractor has signed on to further develop the weapon, appropriately named DREAD.


Centrifuge weapons are reputedly quieter than normal guns, and can hold and fire more ammunition. Apparently the space between each bullet is only 8.5 millimeters apart.

Although I find the invention itself fascinating, I also find the idea of "more" weapons in this world to be scary. There is also a movie clip which is quite simular to the kinds of safety videos you see for the BC ferries...
