2005 Foot-in-Mouth Awards

Wired has a fantastic list of 2005 tech quotes in which whomever said it probably regretted it somewhere down the road. I knew most of the quotes here so this list gave me a good chuckle, but I think the best one on the list is definitely this one:
Most people don't even know what a rootkit is, so why should they care about it?

Sony is a company that doesn't have any respect for their customers, and this quote is a fantastic example of this. Their strategy for dealing with their rootkit fiasco is that they hope their customers are too ignorant to do or say anything about it. This is a problem. If companies think they can screw us over because they think we're too stupid, they've got another thing coming.
